JANUARY is : “Get a Balanced Life” Month.
I know how many of us struggle with this. Especially after Christmas… for all sorts of reasons.
- Health,
- Work,
- Money,
- Fitness,
- Relationships.
If I am honest, I struggle with maintaining balance all year round!
When I am “into something” I dive in with both feet and give it 110%
Thing is – this isn’t always good. Well actually, it is rarely a huge success doing something in excess.
I should know – I’ve tried :
✖️smoking
✖️drinking
✖️exercise
✖️chocolate
✖️work
Yeah – work is my bug-bear at the moment.
Thing is – when I find something I love doing – I go all at it – until it consumes me.
That’s what I did in 2018. I gave it my all. I gave my clients my all. Until I had nothing left to give.
So the advice is : create space and take some time out. Which I did over the holidays.
But if I am honest I am not sure if it worked.
Thing is – with all the other stuff (the smoking and drinking stuff) – I quit all together… and that was good. But with work – I’m not so sure.
Variety is the spice of Life.
Extra advice is “do other stuff as well.” Have variety.
Like when you are trying to lose weight and get into shape : have a healthy balance of foods and do exercises that you like.
Mix it up a bit.
So with me : the advice is have breaks – take holidays (blimey : if you know me – you’ll know that I have no shortage of holidays😉)
So I guess : the secret is to keep on trying until you find the “balance” that works for you.
